SFB School 2017

The SFB 1044 "The Low-Energy Frontier of the Standard Model" held its annual Summer School at the Hotel Ebertor in Boppard from 29 August to 01 September 2017. Invited lecturer Adam Szczepaniak (Indiana U) spoke about Partial Wave Analysis and all that. Dr. Sören Lange from Gießen talked about experimental aspects. The program also included contributions from members of the SFB (graduate students, post docs).

First International Collaboration Meeting of the MAGIX Project

magix group fotoThe MAGIX project for a new, versatile experiment exploiting the energy recovery line of the new MESA accelerator celebrates one major milestone by organizing its first international collaboration meeting, which was held at the Institute for Nuclear Physics between February 15-17. The workshop brought together scientists from 5 institutions, 3 countries and 2 continents to discuss the current status of the work performed in the different groups, the future development on the detectors R&D and the potential scientific achievements of the new experiment. As the collaboration is going to develop in size and structure, it was decided to organize in future two meetings of this kind per year.

Light-by-light workshop

A two-day workshop to discuss all activities related to gamma-gamma physics in the SFB1044 was held in Ramsen on February 2-3, 2017. An outline of the current status was presented by a person actively involved in each the project. This was followed by an indepth discussion of the next steps.
